Bumpdate: 28 weeks

How Far Along: 28 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 17 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity pants. Dresses are now mostly maternity. Mostly regular tops, but they are getting short.

Gender: Boy!

Movement: He moves a lot. This weekend I could tell he was going through a growth spurt, because of the pains I was feeling and he wasn't moving as much.

Sleep: Sleeping through the night except for bathroom breaks. I haven't had to get up for snacks as much this week. Definitely happy about that!

What I miss: I can't really think of anything this week.

Cravings: Cereal. I went grocery shopping Friday night and Ty told me to buy an extra box of cereal, because we have been running out so fast. ha!

Other crazy symptoms: The constant feeling of needing to go to the bathroom. I'm getting full much faster and can't eat as much in one sitting. I need to learn to eat smaller meals, so that I don't feel so miserable. Growing pains. My energy level has gone down since hitting 3rd trimester. I had my glucose test this morning and it made me feel awful. I had to leave work and come home to nap.

Best Moment this week:
Ty and I getting to see our little man at my doctor's appointment today. He is growing right on track!
Also, attending the child birth class my doctor's office offered on Saturday with Jane. Unfortunately, Ty had to work, but Jane volunteered to go with me. She is a third year medical student who wants to do OB, and had expressed interest in attending a class, since she will eventually be recommending them to her patients.

Baby Shower

I am so blessed with a job that I love. The medical students I work with are one of the main reasons I like my job so much. They are truly great people. A group of students threw me a wonderful shower yesterday afternoon. They chose to do a book theme, where people brought books instead of cards. They also did all the decor in the same color scheme as the nursery. I was impressed with every detail!
Get ready for a picture overload!

I put all the books in a basket that I received and boy howdy, did we get some books! I can't wait to sit down with baby Jack and share my love of reading with him. I feel like this picture doesn't really even show just how many books are in there.

I made the hostesses personalized stationery as a thank you. They did such a good job with everything. I know they are all busy, busy ladies. It means so much that they would do this, especially with finals right around the corner.

photography

I love looking at photography sites and when I saw these pictures pop up in my facebook feed I fell in love. Lisa is my great grand little from the good ol' Alpha Chi Omega house. She is the sweetest girl and I'm so happy for her upcoming marriage. They used Aubrey Marie Photography for their engagement photos, and if you are like me, you will want to click over to AMP's blog to see more images from their session. All of the images are beautiful and Lisa is absolutely gorgeous!

Um, holy moly. When did I get so big?!

I have been delaying this post to get a picture taken by Ty, but with his schedule it just isn't going to happen. So, we'll go with lovely self-portraits in the bathroom.

How Far Along: 27 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 16 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity pants. Dresses are now mostly maternity. Mostly regular tops, but I think it is time to invest in a few more maternity tops to get me through.

Gender: Boy! Our little flapjack!

Movement: Lots of movement. He is all over the place and the newest thing is him hitting a nerve and feeling like he has shocked me. It is so strange.

Sleep: Sleeping through the night except for bathroom breaks and snack breaks. I've been getting so hungry!

What I miss: Running--who am I?? Feeling skinny. I'm starting to be able to tell where I am gaining weight and it is not pretty.

Cravings: Cereal, fruit, flavored lemonade, pickles on my sandwiches. I had the best burger ever at Braum's last week. I could go for another one of those!

Other crazy symptoms: The constant feeling of needing to go to the bathroom. I can tell when he is going through a growth spurt thanks to those lovely growing pains. I'm working on curtains for his room and I am feeling large and in charge crawling around the living room floor making measurements and cutting. Thankfully, my mom came to visit and helped me finish them.

Best Moment this week: Finding out that my best friend from high school is having a little boy too! Getting the glider in and the curtains hung. It is really starting to look like a nursery.

How Far Along: 25 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 14 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity pants. Dresses are now mostly maternity. Mostly regular tops with a few maternity mixed in.

Gender: Baby boy: Jack!

Movement: He moves so much! I know I don't have anything to compare it to, but I feel like he is moving all the time now. He's all over the place too. Today I felt him move almost right under my breasts. I didn't even know he could get up that high!

Sleep: Sleeping through the night except for bathroom breaks.

What I miss: Nothing that I can really think of this week.

Cravings: Cereal is the most consistent thing. I have enjoyed a lot of Lucky Charms this week.

Other crazy symptoms: I feel like this list grows every week. Have I mentioned my fuzzy stomach? It's covered in blonde peach fuzz. Some sciatic pain, general growing pains, etc. Still have strong pains at the top of my uterus. Sometimes the pain is an awful burning sensation. The urge to go to the bathroom can come on strong! I can only imagine what it will be like the bigger he gets.

Best Moment this week: I love, love feeling Jack move, but it is even cooler when I can actually see him move. I love watching my stomach ripple and jerk with his movement!

Baby Name

name

I am so excited to finally share Jack's name! On the day we got engaged Ty brought up baby names. We were on a long drive home from visiting my grandparents and of course, I loved the conversation topic. Jackson and William were at the top of our boy list. Six years later and the name has been shortened to Jack. We love how classic and simple it is! William is my maternal grandpa's middle name and my father-in-law's first name, and I love that this baby will carry the name of such influential men in our lives. Jack is a family name on both sides of our families, but not after anyone in particular.

How Far Along: 24 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 14 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity pants. Dresses are now a mix of regular and maternity. Mostly regular tops with a few maternity mixed in. I discovered maternity undies at Target and they are the best things ever. My regular ones fit, but the maternity ones are incredibly comfortable!

Gender: sweet baby boy!

Movement: The last few days he has been so active. I love it!

Sleep: Sleeping through the night except for bathroom breaks

What I miss: Squeezing through small spaces. I apparently think I'm still skinny and try to squeeze past people, doors, etc. I've acquired a couple of bruises, because of this.

Cravings: Fruit, mexican food, cereal, strawberry lemonade.

Other crazy symptoms: I'm still having gallbladder pains or fundus pains. I traveled to DC with a 4th year medical student this week who explained to me about my fundus (top of the uterus) and placenta, yada yada. I can't keep up with those medical terms. :) But the good news is that it may not be my gallbladder, but the pain is in that same area. The pain isn't constant and I can't pinpoint anything that brings it on.
Sweaty palms and feet. Yuck. Faint linea nigrea. The urge to go to the bathroom more and more. I can tell when he has positioned himself lower. Overall stamina is lower.

Traveling to DC for four days wore my body out. I felt like I could barely move several hours after I arrived home. It was a stressful week, then top it off with traveling and all the walking you do in a big city, my poor body was just done.

Best Moment this week: I attend national work meetings twice a year. The last time I saw these people was right before I found out I was pregnant. It was exciting to see them six months later and have them be so excited when they saw I was pregnant!

catching up on random thoughts

I returned from a work trip in DC this afternoon and I'm definitely feeling the effects of being pregnant and traveling. It was a stressful week here at our house. Ty dropped his phone in the water and after trying to get it fixed he has resorted to using my old iPhone. Unfortunately, his computer crashed a couple of months ago taking all of his backed up iPhone data with it and we didn't realize that the phone data hadn't been recovered until this happened. Poor guy. An iPhone becomes a resident's life line and he has been a little lost. Ty's grandma passed away this week and her funeral was Saturday. I was in DC on business and unable to attend with him. We know she is in a better place, but it doesn't make things any less sad. Ty was supposed to work at the hospital all weekend, but luckily was able to get things moved around so he could be with his family.

After triple checking to make sure my phone was backed up I realized I had several pictures I had never blogged about.

  • I'm in love with my new orange wallet!

  • Before we found out what we were having my mom texted these two pictures of my nephews and they just made my heart melt. It made me want a little boy!

Waiting on the trash truck to drive by

  • I must be hormonal if dirt and trash trucks warm my heart!
  • A month ago I attended a baby shower to celebrate Whitney and her baby boy, Ezra. We had high tea and it was delicious! (I stole a couple of these pics from Whitney's blog.)

I loved the blue china!

My love language is gifts. I love to purchase something special for those I love, I love to see all the gifts being opened at showers, and I love to see what people purchase as gifts on blogs. I bought Ezra these paper suitcases from Paper Source. The top one contained a personalized burp cloth and bib, and the bottom one held a book for Ezra and big brother book for Levi.

  • I found a great seller on etsy that makes high quality burp cloths. They are thick and everything is sewn really well. I've used her a lot lately for gifts.
  • I feel like Spring has come and gone here, since we are experiencing 90 degree temps. We did enjoy seeing our tree bloom! I wish it could stay like that for months.

  • I may have a slight obsession with stripes for my boy!

I found these socks at Target the other day and couldn't resist!
