Over

The last week of our break was very nice and relaxing. We did a lot of this:

But we also worked on our house. We had a lot of little projects that needed to be finished.

Ty installed a chandelier that we got for Christmas from my Nanny. He took the old light fixture and hung it in our entry way to replace a really outdated one. The chandelier really makes a difference in the room.

We also planted two redbud trees in our front yard. Okay, I really mean Ty planted two redbuds! I can't wait for them to bloom in the spring. They produce the prettiest pink flowers.
We touched up the paint in our bathroom and cleaned the house. Ty even cleaned out his office. You can see the floor again!
The weather was amazing this past weekend. It was 73 degrees on Saturday! We took Nuts to the Bark Park twice over the weekend. Its so funny to watch the little dogs interact with each other. Its just a bunch of sniffing and walking around. And then you look over to the big dog side and they are playing fetch and chasing each other. It looks like a lot more fun than the small dog side, but I don't think Nuts could handle all those huge dogs! Good thing there is a fence separating the two sides.
We throughly enjoyed our time together. It was a much needed break from work and school. We were able to just hang out and enjoy each others company without the stress of med school looming over our heads. Now I am counting down the days until our next break together!

Blog Designs

I have been asked by a person that reads my blog about blog backgrounds, designs, etc...
Caroline is working on starting a blog, but she has a few questions. She asked me to make a post on what to do. I am NOT an expert on these things so please take my advice with a grain of salt. Hopefully, I can help you get started.

Whenever you want to add a fun background from another site such as The Cutest Blog on Block or from Aqua Poppy Designs then you need to have your template set to a minima template. This is one of the templates that blogger has already designed for you.
The sites I mentioned above are easy to use because you do not actually have to edit your HTML. Instead you go to your 'customize your layout' and add a gadget. Add HTML/JAVA script. Then you copy and paste the code that you are given by the design site into this gadget. Make sure you hit save and you should be good to go.

There are lots of blogs out there that provide free backgrounds. I just named a couple that I have used before. Don't get discouraged if these sites are extremely slow or keep kicking you out. I'm not sure this happens. Its very frustrating. But, hey they are free backgrounds so who am I to complain!?!
I hope this helps. If not just leave me a comment with your e-mail addy and question and I will try to help you.
Good luck starting your blog! Let me know when it is up and running.

{As I'm sure you all noticed I now have 3 columns. I received a blog design gift certificate for Christmas from MIL and I am just getting ready for it. I'm not sure what I want to do yet, but I do know that I want a 3 column design. I found out how to do this from The Cutest Blog on Block.}

Happy New Year

As the first day of the new year draws to a close I am pondering on all the great things that I hope will happen this year and reflecting back on 2008. It was a great year.

--Ty and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.
--We bought a HOUSE! We have learned so much from being first time home owners. Ty is
becoming quite the handy man. And Nuts loves having a back yard.
--I travelled to Houston, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Utah plus lots of smaller places for work.
(Most of those travels included lots of leisure time as well!)
--Ty travelled with me to Vegas and Eureka Springs and we had a blast!
--I took up 2 new hobbies: sewing and blogging.
--I started a business making adorable (at least I think so) onesies.
--I was blessed with great friends and family.

I just know that 2009 will be even better.
--I will be travelling to Washington D.C. and NYC in the Spring semester.
--We will continue to update our house and get it just the way we want it.
--Ty will start rotations this summer and officially be in his 3rd year of medical school!
--We will take a much needed mini vacation before 3rd year starts.

Whatever happens this year I know that God will continue to bless us! Happy New Year!!
