searching for paradise

Bloggers, I need your help! My husband has finally been convinced to take me on a tropical vacation. Yay!

I have been trying to convince him to take some of that med school loan money and go on a great vacation. After a rotation with several residents who took several amazing vacations during med school with their loan money, he has been convinced!

Now before you all start to lecture about using loan money for this venture let me tell you all that my husband is very frugal. He has been very smart with his loan money. In the grand scheme of things a couple thousand dollars does not matter when you are taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to school. We really want to take a good vacation before we have other responsibilities. {ahem, children. don't get too excited it still won't be happening anytime soon, but we want to take advantage of not having any kids.}

This is where you all come in! I need some advice. Have you been anywhere that you would recommend? Would you do all inclusive? Did you use a travel agent?

We will probably stick with Mexico. We don't want to go crazy with loan money; just a nice little vacay!

We won't be going until Ty's vacation month next July, but I am such a planner. I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the options. Help!

pretty, pretty polish

My favorite nail polish colors are two extremes: a dark purple and a pale pink. I think it is too early to bust out my OPI lincoln park after dark/lincoln park after midnight, although I really want to!
For the Love introduced me to this color instead,
OPI miami beet from the southbeach collection.
{update: I did not take the picture up above. I found it somewhere...not, sure where. My nails never look that good when I paint them!}
It's not a bright summer pink, but not a dark goth purple either. It is the perfect shade for this in between color time. I havent' worn it on my fingernails yet, but it looks great on my tootsies!

I am wearing this color on my fingernails right now.
Sally Hansen Insta-dri petal pusher.

After reading so much about this new polish I had to check it out. It has a fantastic brush and dries really fast! I hope they come out with even more colors in this formula, because it is great!

I topped both of these colors off with this.
It is a clear polish and gives a lot of shine, plus helps dry faster.

I love having my fingernails painted, but I wish it lasted longer. If only I could talk Ty into letting me get weekly manicures! I don't see that happening anytime soon!

family, pops, & friends

On our way home on Sunday we stopped by Ty's sister and her family's house. It was so nice to see them all. I didn't take any pictures, but I did lift this one of Lillian from Amy's blog.

Lillian was playing with her rock collection when we got there.
Lillian and I had a good time coloring pictures and giving them to each other.

This was the most recent picture I had of Lucas. He will be two in December and is all boy! You can't see the back of his hair in this picture, but he has the cutest little curls.

After we left their house we stopped by Pops. I have blogged about this place before here.

We ate in their diner for the first time on Sunday. It was delish!

Today I was out on the road for a recruitment event. It just happened to be at the same university where Megan works. I had a break for lunch, so she picked me up and we had some yummy tomato basil soup and 1/2 a sandwich at a nice sandwich shop.

She works in this cute, old house on campus. It was adorable.

She showed me her office and it is so spacious and homey! Her department has a golf cart to use to get around campus, so she drove me back to the building that I was working at in the golf cart. It was a gorgeous day to be driving around campus in that thing. Thanks Megan!

I have taken on some new responsibilities at work. I'm enjoying it and hoping it eventually turns into a promotion. Fingers crossed. But with those extra duties and my travelling schedule at work my blogging, e-mailing and commenting might be sporadic.

I have had lots of new commentors lately and I like to try to visit you all, but things have been busy at work and will only get busier. I love each and every comment, so please don't get offended or stop commenting if I don't get a chance to visit your blog very often. :)
