I have fallen in love with white kitchen cabinets, white subway tile and dark wood floors.
Building is becoming a stronger possibility, which makes me wonder if I can achieve one of the looks above on what will be a much tighter budget than the kitchens above cost. I have seen a lot of white kitchens online that look cheap. We also wouldn't have the dark wood floors to contrast with the white cabinets.
Is this look trendy? Will I hate it in five years? Should I go with a more traditional wood look? These are all questions I have been contemplating. I don't want to go with something that I can't quite achieve or doesn't look good in an open floor plan. Maybe I should wait to see if we even sell our house before I get too worked up. :)
Ok, those photos made me drool...so jealous. Ikea tends to give you that look on a lower budget, and it does look great. What a fun adventure coming your way. Make sure to keep us posted with fun photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also obsessed with the white kitchen with dark counters. But I also love the white cabinets with a wood top. oooh and I love just having open shelves with all my dishes showing. All in all I want a new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the process of possibly redoing our kitchen and these are my style. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI really like the pictures you chose. The first one with the coral/orange details is perfect. Wish I could do my own.
ReplyDeletei have the EXACT same taste in kitchens :) not sure if it's trendy... but I really love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous--never thought I'd like white, but there is something classic about it!
ReplyDeletei love white kitchens. i think they're timeless and classic!
ReplyDeletegirl, go for it. we have white cabs, dark hardwoods and black granite counter tops. we LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteI also love this look! I think white cabinets are very traditional and will always be in style. I have white cabinets now and plan to have another white kitchen if we ever build a new home.
ReplyDeleteThe white is super versatile. You can update it with fixtures and finishings. I would move into any of those kitchens. I wouldn't even need the rest of the house! One of those kitchens would do me.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to make a dream kitchen when it's that big. What do you do with one that's a quarter the size of this one? That's what we have.
ReplyDeleteNo, white kitchens are totally classic! I love all your inspiration pictures. In fact, when we were remodeling our kitchen this past winter a few of those pictures I used as my inspiration! Seriously, love white kitchens. Also you might want to think about buying a fixer-upper...I know it takes more time and work, but sometimes it's much more cost effective than building new and it you can make it what you want. Althought the cost of real estate has gone down in the past couple of years the cost of building materials has gone up...so keep that in mind. Good luck selling your home!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that look too. Those kitchens are gorgeous and I think you could definitely get that look at a more reasonable cost than most of the kitchens in those pictures. I think trends in things like kitchens change much slower than in decor so I wouldn't worry too much about how you'll like it in five years. No matter what you choose, you'll eventually want to update it in some way. Plus, white is such a neutral backdrop that you could always bring in color or different elements down the road if you wanted to.
ReplyDeleteWe have dark wood floors and black granite but our cabinets are wood. I've been trying to talk my husband into painting them white but he's dead set against it. Probably because neither of us are very handy (okay, not handy AT ALL) and he doesn't want to pay someone to do it. I'm still working on him though! :)
I think a white kitchen is gorgeous! The first house my husband and I shared had white cottage style cabinents, light to medium tone wood and floors and I was smitten with it! Our second house was the same (although it had AWFUL formica countertops--bleh) and our current home has light wood and cream/ivory cabinents. I think it's a very timeless look.
ReplyDeleteYou could totally do it on a tighter budget.
Good luck!
I have also been attracted to subway tile backplashes, it is fun to dream!
ReplyDeleteI love these kitchens lindsey!
ReplyDeleteI am a white kitchen lover and am in the process of doing this to our current kitchen. Dark woods and white cabinets are classic. White subway tile is classic, and I don't think it could ever go out of style. You can update the look with colorful curtains, accessories, wall colors, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love the white kitchens, dark floors and chandeliers.... I think that's pretty classic actually.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures! White is classic and never goes out of style. Our first kitchen was white and our second is creme. If you are on a tight budget instead of building I would find something you like and make improvements.
ReplyDeleteI love white cabinets and think they are classic. Our old house had white cabinets and I loved it with the granite. I say go with your gut. I cannot wait to see all of your other ideas. Building is going to be a blast!!
ReplyDeleteoh man, i'd love to build. that second picture is amazing. love love love!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous kitchens. They are definitely going in my save folder!
ReplyDeleteI've seen some of these very photos before! We, too, are building a house. I love white cabinets, too. I love lots of styles. I could go in dozens of different directions. We've settled on Texas Hill Country style, so we'll have wooden cabinets, but I think these kitchens are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are all GORGEOUS! I wish we owned our home and I could redo our kitchen. In the meantime, I daydream about my one day kitchen and collect ideas and inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIf you end up building, I can't wait to see what you go with. I think white with dark wood is a great combo, and not trendy.
Those kitchens are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love those kitchens! My sister in law has a twin kitchen to one of the pics!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you thinking of building??
i want to build too:)
I love those white kitchens and the viking stoves are to die for. Definitely on my wish list for the future!
