snow day

It snowed here on Wednesday. There is something about snow that brings about so much excitement. It is the first snow this part of the state has seen all season. Jack had a white Christmas at his grandparents', but this was his first time to get out in it. He was really excited watching the snow fall from the window, but not quite so sure about being outside in it.

scenes from our weekend

I absolutely love when Ty has the weekend off! Oh, how I wish every weekend could be like this! No plans, just lots of family time.

Saturday morning consisted of cinnamon rolls, jammies, and tv.

Jack is starting to get excited when Nuts comes close to him. Nuts, on the other hand, typically runs if Jack touches him.

Ty and I saw a movie Saturday afternoon. Friends from church that live in the neighborhood next to us have been offering to keep Jack and we took them up on it. We had a good time out just the two of us.

After church we went to a furniture store to look at dining room tables. Jack was in a really good mood, so we decided to eat lunch at Camille's, which is located inside the store.

Sunday evening we went to our small group from church. Jack and I both ended up wearing colored denim.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's card

Jack sent out the above valentines to his family. He also sent me flowers and chocolates earlier this week. And he made his daddy and I presents at daycare. He's a busy boy! :)

The photos they take at daycare crack me up. None of the kids are smiling in their pictures. They just stare at the camera. I promise he is happy there!

The pictures used in the Valentine's Day card are from his 6 month photos. I need to share them on here soon. I know I'm biased, but they turned out so cute!

I hope everyone is having a great day celebrating love!

The Proof is in the Pin

I'm linking up with Sarah at Life Sweet Life for the Proof is in the Pin. I combined two pins to make chocolate chip cookies to take to Jack's teachers for Valentine's Day.

This recipe uses cornstarch, which makes the cookies maintain a good shape. It is my new go to chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Mine didn't turn out quite as pink, but I still love them!

bridal shower

My best friend is getting married in March and I am so happy for her. I hosted a bridal shower, along with two other bridesmaids at my house a couple of weeks ago. It was so much fun planning all the little details. Chesley is not a big fan of color, so we went with a lot of white. :)

I created the invites and thank you cards.

One of our good friends from college traveled to be at the shower. It was the first time Chesley and I got to meet her little girl, Hannah. She is adorable!

7 months

Jack,
Where does the time go? I can't believe you are 7 months old! You are such a happy baby! Still stingy with the laughter, but you freely give away smiles. You are very calm and content. I think you very much enjoy your quiet environment at home.

DSC01345 copy

You started food this month, and like your momma, you aren't a big fan of green veggies, but love fruits. You tolerate green beans, but hate peas. We have been giving you big pieces of food to gnaw on and you love watermelon, cantaloupe and pickles! You could not get enough of the pickles at a restaurant we recently ate at.

You sleep through the night for the most part. You have had some nights this past month where you just didn't feel well and wanted to be held. I am in the bad habit of bringing you back to bed with me when you do wake up. You sleep so well snuggled up with me!

Jack, you love to stand. In fact, most of the time when we try to sit you on your bottom you will stiffen up those legs and refuse to sit. You have become a very curious boy and grab for everything within your reach. We have had a mild winter and you love to go outside. It has a calming effect on you.

Bath time has become one of your favorite things.I clean you up in your bath seat and then let you sit down in the bath tub. Your new thing is to lean all the way back (basically lay down) and relax with a foam letter in your mouth. It is hard work for me to hold your head out of the water, but you love it, so I guess I'll suffer. :)

I say this every month, but you really do bring so much joy to our lives. We love you, baby boy!

Love,
Mommy

jewels

I am hosting a Stella & Dot online trunk show. Christine sent me a bunch of jewels this weekend to try on and share with others. I am obsessed with these bracelets! I have really small wrists and these actually fit me. They are adjustable and/or have several links, so they can work for every wrist size.

We were cheering for the 49ers, which did not end well for us. Ty has been a fan since childhood. I can remember the 49ers bomber jacket he wore in the 6th grade. :)

I'm also wearing the Fiona Earrings in the above picture and I love them! They are light weight, which is a must for me, and they remind me of a smaller scale of the Kendra Scott earrings everyone is obsessed with. I love that I can wear them with anything.

Sprinkle Shower

My sister is due in early March with her second child--a little girl. I wanted to throw a small shower for her to celebrate. Last weekend we packed up and headed home to do just that.

Not that anyone is paying real close attention, but the shower was actually at 10 am, not 2 pm. I just realized I did not upload the final version of the invitation. oops.

LeAnn is using these colors in the nursery and will have a few owl themed decorative items as well.

I'm so disappointed with the pictures I took. My battery was dying and I didn't have time to mess with the settings.
We also had a breakfast casserole, but it was being kept warm in the oven until the last possible second.
