weekend recap

Friday night I worked at graduation for the medical school. It is always such a special event and I love that I get to work with these students on a daily basis. Megan worked in our office for a year and we got to know each other really well. She even went on a couple of recruitment trips with me, including one to DC this past spring. We had a blast together!

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on Saturday! It was the perfect day of relaxation and togetherness.

We woke up and went to eat breakfast, and made a quick trip to Target. We discovered that our neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods were all having garage sales, so we walked through the area and browsed. Later that evening we went to dinner and enjoyed each other's company. We don't have many Saturdays like that together, and it was absolutely perfect!

We also did some work on Jack's nursery. Nuts was a big help.

under the sea

While we loved the amazing pool we didn't spend all of our time there. We did get in the ocean.
IMG_4707

We tried out the hoby cats. Once by ourselves and once with a guide.

The kayaks were a lot more enjoyable than I thought they would be. It was really nice to float in the middle of the ocean.

This picture proves I didn't make Ty do all the work. I did paddle some. :)

Our favorite thing was our snorkeling trip.

We swam into a school of fish that looked similar to this little guy. It was one of the most amazing things. We were completely surrounded by fish.

Ty was brave and swam without his life vest.

We saw a lot of really pretty fish, but it was hard to snap pictures under the water.

Our resort on the way back in. We made it back right before the rain.

We still can't quite believe we had to come back to real life. We had the best time and could have stayed much longer than six days.

*several of you asked where I got the red print dress in the post below. I purchased it from lulus.com last year. They are selling it again this year. It can also be found at Alloy and it is on sale right now. I will warn you it is not the highest quality and its pretty thin, but I love it.

vacation recap

We arrived at our resort around 6 in the evening. We were tired from traveling all day, but as soon as we walked into the resort they greeted us with water and champagne. On the way to our room we passed a table full of the best snacks ever. Who would have ever thought that a hot dog on a gourmet roll with tomatoes and mayo could be so delish??

The resort always had an evening activity planned. Our first night it was a fire show. It started off slow with cirque du soleil type dancers and then came the fire and break dancers. It was a fantastic show and the best part--it was free!

We had a great view of the ocean at every meal we ate.

We took a walk on the beach every morning. It was so peaceful out there.

Mornings are my favorite time on the beach.
IMG_4922

We spent the rest of the morning hanging out at the pool either reading or floating in the pool.

Great book, btw. It's really funny. Since we were at an adults only resort (you had to be 18 to stay there) there was no screaming or splashing. Everyone was in their own little worlds, but still very friendly.

IMG_4858

The resort had daily activities, one of them being rifle shooting, aka a bb gun. haha.

We spent an evening in Playa del Carmen.
IMG_4921

Our last night at the resort it was Casino Night. We had so much fun.
The resort had paper money and whatever you won at the end you were able to use at an auction later that evening. We played a lot of black jack.
IMG_4964

We wore a lot of sunblock and applied quite regularly, but I still got a sunburn. I alternated between spf 100 & 85. I know, I know, I was living on the edge.

Nursing my burnt legs. Only the front of them got red. I blame it on kayaking.

Up next: pictures from our disposable waterproof camera. Get ready for some quality pictures.
And if you made it all the way through the post, I think I might have made Ty blush with my post yesterday. hee hee. He wanted me to make sure you all know that he did not pose for any of those pictures. I was a snap happy fool. :)

aviators

I love a man in aviators. Especially this particular man.

Even in my sun hat the aviators (and the man) make me swoon.

vacation deets

Who: The Mr. & the Mrs.

What: The most relaxing vacation ever. We had the best time and are still trying to get back into the daily routine of things. I think we might have relaxed a little too much and now we don't remember how to live our busy lives.

When: July 1-6

Where: Secrets Capri, somewhere south of Cancun and close to Playa del Carmen
IMG_4746 copy

I researched a lot of all inclusive resorts. I wanted something smaller, with several restaurants, and adults only. We were so happy with our choice. It was exactly what we were wanting for our vacation.

IMG_4855 copy

Why: Why not?

I will have several recaps. I can't quite muster the energy required for a big post. :)

***Don't forget to take advantage of a great etsy special offered to my readers.

love

Happy Anniversary Ty! I can't believe it has been three years. (I will probably say this every year.) An even bigger number is the fact that we have been together for 10 years. A DECADE! Yes, we were young and it started as puppy love, but we have grown up together and our love grows every year. (I get to be sappy on my anniversary, right??)

Ty gets off from the ER at 7, so we will be enjoying a relaxing dinner at home and of course, watch our wedding video. I make him watch it every year. :)

Celebrating our 2nd anniversary last year.
