Paxton's Nursery

I wanted Paxton's room to be soft and peaceful, and to be able to reuse all of our nursery items from Jack's room. We kept Jack's crib, crib bumper and skirt, changing table, and glider/recliner. The big constellation print was my starting point for everything. I had trouble photographing it, but it is navy and not quite as dark as it appears in the pictures. I also made several decorating decisions based on the fact that we won't likely be in this house next year and could be in a small rental during Ty's fellowship. Overall, it turned out exactly like I had hoped!

If anyone is looking for a baby book, I'm pretty excited about this one from Lucy Darling. It's adorable and very, very simple. The girl version is even cuter with beautiful floral designs. I bought mine on Amazon, but Nordstrom and SugarBit carry them as well.

A girl from church painted this as a gift for us.

My brother recently took up carpentry as a hobby and offered to make something for Paxton's room. I knew I wanted a small side table to sit by the rocker and he was able to make exactly what I had visioned! I love that Paxton has a special piece made by Derek.

Jack and I have been hanging out in here in the evenings before bedtime. It's such a relaxing time and I can't wait to bring Paxton home to join us! Jack is really getting into pretending and using his imagination, which is so fun. Paxton's room has been our rocket ship and he is Leo from Miles from Tomorrowland. We have had Peppa Pig and Grandpa Pig visit us to help fix the rocket when it breaks down. It's always interesting! I hope he gets over his "rocket ship" being invaded.

The Proof is in the Pin

I have been wanting to link up with Sarah's monthly post for a while now. I finally had a chance to follow through with one of my pins and actually blog about it. Unfortunately, my project was somewhat of a fail. Just wait, you'll see what I mean.

I fell in love with this chalkboard/wreath combo. I had been wanting a boxwood wreath for a while, but couldn't bring myself to pay for one. I found one at Lowe's this year for around $30 and I plan to use the wreath year round.

Here is my version for Christmas.

I bought a chalkboard marker ($4), a discounted frame ($8), and foam board ($5) at Hobby Lobby. I practiced writing "joy" several times with the chalkboard marker. My last practice one was perfect. Then, I wrote it on the board that I spray painted with chalkboard paint. AND the result says "jay."
Wonderful. I put it up on the mantel hoping I was the only one that saw "jay" instead of "joy."

Now that it is all done I wish I would have just bought chalk and not the chalk marker. The whole board needs to "chalked" up and the marker wrote more like a paint marker. I wanted it to have a more chalk like texture.

Ty sent me this text the next day.
(He was on nights, so he saw it the next day after I was already at work.)

So, apparently I'm not the only one that sees "jay." Maybe I'll actually fix it before next Christmas, but for now we wish you and yours a jayous holiday season!

Nursery Reveal

I really wanted to create a space that would transition well into toddler years and beyond. I have a love for navy and for stripes, and I definitely used both in Jack's room. I hope he enjoys the room as much as I do!

Christmas Crafts and Pretty Paper

I was searching the web today for free printable cupcake toppers. I found several, but they weren't quite what I was wanting. I didn't have anything specific in mind, but those just weren't it.
I asked my friend Katie for some help. She might just love free printables more than me and is always featuring fun ones on her blog.

She sent me several fun links and I found a great set of coordinated printables.

I LOVED this banner, but I don't have a place to hang it at home. Our front office was the perfect place for this festiveness.

The blog has cupcake toppers, invitations, etc all to match. I love the colors!

I love this felt garland.

I think it would be so cute strung on something or even used to wrap presents. I've bookmarked this site and I will make these some day.

Has anyone seen any cute Christmas crafts or printables?

Fall Decor

I love all the colors of Fall. It makes my house feel so warm and cozy!

I changed up our fireplace decor. We used to have a big mirror sitting on the mantle. This poor clock has been propped up on a living room wall since we moved in a year ago. I thought it was time to show it some love. Our fireplace seems so bare now though, but it is growing on me.
I bought the cream pumpkin last year from HobLob after Thanksgiving. It was in a 90% off box outside of the store. It was an odd green color, so I painted it cream. I loved the real cream pumpkins I had last year; seen here.

Why is it so hard to take pictures of your house and have them turn out the same way you actually see them in real life??

My apothecary jar filled with acorns.

I bought the acorns at HobLob on my lunch hour with Megan. I love that girl!

I'm loving this black cake stand!

I came home from work today and saw this:

I guess Nuts got bored. Little stinker.

The 3 acorns were all stuck together like this:{picture of my table last year.}

Have a good weekend!
