Bumpdate: 19 weeks

19 weeks

How Far Along
: 19 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 7 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity pants. Dresses and tops are still regular.

Gender: BOY!

Movement: Yes! I felt him the day before the u/s. It was like a ripple or a soft wave. From the next day on I felt little pops. Baby boy is a dancing fool! It happens more in the evenings.

Sleep: Getting my 8 hours. 2nd trimester energy is amazing!

What I miss: Being able to catch my breath from walking up the stairs. I get back to my office and have to take a breather before I can talk. I officially feel like I'm sharing my oxygen supply!

Cravings: Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, Dr. Pepper, and queso. I passed up purchasing girl scout cookies from 3 different sets of girls. All I wanted this weekend was mexican food.

Other crazy symptoms: Heartburn, but only in the evenings. I haven't noticed the headaches as often as I was once getting them, so fingers crossed that those are behind me. Oily skin and hair. I feel like I'm back in middle school and high school. My hair is out of control. Thank goodness for dry shampoo.

Best Moment this week: Feeling this little man move and Ty being able to feel him move! Having the sex confirmed and getting to watch him move around during the ultrasound. He was a little wiggle worm. He also stuck his tongue out at us and sucked his thumb. The tech got the cutest picture of it.

weekend recap

My weekend was full of showers. I attended a bridal shower on Saturday and helped host a baby shower on Sunday. I absolutely love showers, so it was a fun weekend!

With the Bride-to-be, Sara

I thought she was wearing the perfect bridal shower dress!
Sara and Kenneth met at medical school and are an adorable couple. Kenneth was one of my student workers and I miss having him in the office!

I went to a baby boutique near the shower and fell in love with it. (Peek a Boo Baby, for those in town.) I wanted to buy so many things, but I was good. I can't stop thinking about this Kissy Kissy romper though. I think I need to go back and get it.

Thanks for all the comments on the gender announcement. Ty and I are thrilled to be having a sweet, baby boy!

I helped host a baby shower at church on Sunday. Christina had her little girl, Sadie, a couple of weeks ago, so the theme for the shower was Welcome Sadie! We used pineapples to express the welcome part.

I found these tiny pineapples at the grocery store and couldn't pass them up.

I made all the paper products for it. The guest book sheets:

Ty worked all weekend, so tonight I'm watching the Oscars and eating girl pizza.

I made pesto for the first time tonight. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. I followed Iowa Girl Eats' recipe, but subbed almonds for the walnuts.

We also sold my car this weekend! We listed it on autotrader around 9:30 in the morning on Saturday and had around 10 phone calls and 5 e-mails about it. We sold it at 4 in the afternoon to a co-worker of mine. She bought it for her teenage son. I'm so thankful that it sold so fast!

I know I shouldn't wish away months, but I'm glad this month is almost over. Ty was on an ER rotation where he worked 1 pm - 1 am. This meant that I went days without seeing him. On ER months they only work 15 shifts, but his off days were always days I was at work. I'm actually looking forward to a surgery month.

  • Thank you for all your kind words about closing Sweet Simplicity Designs. Dianna and Kathryn were the winners and have already received their new designs. Several people asked if I would stop blogging...there are no plans for that!

  • I have had a little two door car since high school and we bought a new car last weekend! Well, new to me anyway. I'm so excited about having a four door car. It is a black nissan altima and came with pretty low mileage and fully loaded. I'm so excited about all the fancy things like seat warmers for the leather seats. Definitely an upgrade from the car I have driven for the last ten years or so.

  • I made chocolate chip lava cookies on Saturday and oh my goodness, they are good!

Bumpdate: 18 weeks

18 weeks

How Far Along
: 18 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 5 lbs

Maternity Clothes: All maternity pants. Dresses and tops are still regular.

Gender: We find out on Wednesday!!!!

Movement: Nope.

Sleep: Same as last week: Needing less and less (still 8 hours though). It is so nice to have some energy back!

What I miss: Purchasing regular clothes. I went to the mall and the colors for this spring are orange and navy, and the pattern is stripes. Two of my favorite colors and I LOVE stripes. It was like an arrow straight to my heart. I saw a lot of things that I would have normally bought, but I guess this is good for my wallet.

Cravings: Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch and Dr. Pepper. I don't like brown pop of any kind, so this is a strange one for me.

Other crazy symptoms: Hello heartburn! Headaches, heart palpitations, acne. Saturday night I experienced all of my symptoms at once! At that point I decided to give up and just go to sleep. :)

Best Moment this week: Going on a little getaway with Ty!

Valentine's Celebration

Ty was around a lot more in January due to his Radiology schedule, which got us itching to take a trip. We decided that a big trip wasn't feasible time wise and money wise, so we started looking at an overnight trip or a weekend trip somewhere close. We have been wanting to go to a Thunder game and decided this was the perfect overnight trip. The only game that worked with Ty's schedule happened to be on Valentine's Day.

I got up early and bought Ty donuts and sausage rolls for breakfast before we left for the city.

We had dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant in Bricktown and then headed to the game. The restaurant served heart shaped sopapillas in honor of the day.

I worked for the New Orleans Hornets in college while they were displaced to Oklahoma City after Hurricane Katrina. My old boss and a couple of the people I interned with are now working for the OKC Thunder. Kasey and Jason had it arranged to say Welcome Baby K... on the jumbotron! I was so excited to see it up there on the big screen!

The next morning we walked around the OKC bombing memorial. It was a tragic day for our state and the memorial is a beautiful tribute to those that lost their lives.

The inscription that circles the Survivor Tree reads: The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated; our deeply rooted faith sustains us.

We ended our trip with cupcakes. There is a really fun cupcake bakery/candy store in the area called Pinkitzel.

They sell really cute gifts and I drooled over this party bunting.

My strawberry cupcake was really, really yummy!

It was really nice to get away even if it was only for one night. We had a great time together!

What I miss: Nothing really.

Cravings: Still with the Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch.

Best Moment this week: Ty and I visited a couple of baby superstores over the last two weeks and I love how interested he is in everything. Holy cow, there are so many options for everything!

A Thank You and Goodbye

After a couple of years of designing blogs I have decided to close up shop. I am SO appreciative of all of the support I have received! I have discovered a lot of great blogs and had a chance to be creative. I never used to think of myself as a creative person and Sweet Simplicity Designs helped me grow in that area.

With a baby on the way, I know I will not have the time to devote to it. But, really I had become burnt out on it a little before the baby. Blog designing and installing is extremely time consuming and I found it taking up a big chunk of my evenings and weekends.

As a thank you to everyone for sending clients to me and for encouraging me along the way I am going to be giving away two pre-made design templates. The templates can be viewed here. To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment below.
