I'm sure you have all seen The Topsy Turvy tomato grower advertised on t.v.
I have been eyeing it since it was first advertised and now I am seeing them in a lot of yards in my neighborhood. Ty told me the other day that he wanted a garden. I said no way jose! Vegetable gardens are a lot of work. My parents have one and I used to do whatever possible to avoid having to help out there. But this looks so easy and you don't have to dig in the ground. (I'm terrible at digging holes.) Has anyone bought one of these?
I also want to learn to speak Italian. I'm not going for fluently here, I just want to pick up some phrases. These CDs got high reviews on Amazon, so I am debating on them. Anyone have any suggestions? I have heard that Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone are the best, but their main packages are so expensive. This basic set is under $20, which is why I am really considering it.
My life is pretty boring right now, so I have resorted to blogging about as seen on t.v. products. But, you know you want one of those too!

Check the library for language CD's, I bet they have several options!

Thats interesting- My dad (Who gardens a lot) said that it is best to grow them upside down. I wonder what that does for them!

ReplyDeleteLet me know how the Italian cd works. I'm in the same boat: I really want to learn, but I can't picture spending that money on the Rosetta Stone unless I had a firm trip to Italy planned.
I'm surprised that my "as seen on tv" fanatical husband hasn't purchased either of these. It's only a matter of time, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteif you are just wanting to learn some words and phrases, don't spend a lot of money. what you are looking at will be fine. have your neighbors had any luck with their tomato growers?

Do they have the language lessons at your local library?
We often have sales on Pimsleur language courses, so check out our website. The Audiobook chip format tends to be a lot cheaper than the CDs too!

OMG I want one of the tomato growers too! I used to love tomatos but never feel like I find good ones at Publix so I told Mr. Pro I wanted one... he looked at me like I was crazy! Let me know if you get one!

ReplyDeleteI took 4 years of French in high school and then in college switched to Spanish. (Why? yeah I don't know why...) but anyways-
ReplyDeleteI decided to revisit my French and for me reading it is much easier than the speaking and listening comprehension part, so I got the French on CD. I drive alot and it does seem to be setting in the more I hear it and then repeat it. Just a suggestion, but everyone learns differently. good luck!
oh yeah, I have a daughter who has the nintendo ds and they have language games, I have the Spanish one and it also is a good way to learn, it is more interactive and can actually be fun to play. but, if you don't have a DS, nevermind. haha!
ReplyDeleteMy boss and I were in WalMart yesterday and saw the Topsy Turvy for $9.97. She said she has one and is growing not just tomatoes, but squash, cucumbers, etc. in it and it is working so well!

topsy turvy makes me giggle! i am just jealous that i cannot have one! i did see ALL of the "as seen on tv" stuff at Walgreens when I went back home.
