What kind of doctor does your husband want to "be?"

He still has a little bit of time before he has to make that decision. Thank goodness, because the man loves everything so far! He is leaning more toward something to do with bones, joints, muscles, etc.

Have you decided what Nuts will be for Halloween?

I bought two Halloween costumes on clearance last year at Target. He will either be a lobster or a bumble bee. I'm not sure he will actually wear it w/o tearing it apart!

Ty and I grew up in the same small town. He attended a really tiny school on the edge of town that closed down after he was in 4th grade. He started school with me in the 5th grade. I have had a crush on him since the 6th grade! aaawww. We are high school sweethearts and the rest is history.

Did you date all the way through high school and college? When did you get married?

We dated our freshman and sophomore year of high school. On and off for our junior and senior year. We broke up to go to college, but still ended up seeing each other a couple of weekends a month. the rest answered below...

What made you decide Cowboy over Sooner?

This question and the one from Southern Champagne Wishes above can be answered together. Ty was a cowboy and I was a sooner our freshman year of college. I ended up transferring schools to be with him and never looked back. Yes, I switched schools for a boy. Lame. I know! But it worked out and ended up being the best thing possible for me. I definitely blossomed at OSU. God always has the ultimate plan for us all and you never know what might happen.

We got married two weeks after we graduated from college and moved to a new city two after our wedding. It was a very busy time!

I majored in Public Relations. I love how flexible my major is and it definitely has given me several opportunities.

What kind of work do you do?

I recruit undergrad students to attend med school. The same med school Ty attends. I was very lucky to find this job and started during his orientation week. I have met some great people including miss Whitney. My job allows me to travel and I have been to some great places courtesy of my company. I also get to do event planning, which I love!

If you could make $1 million dollars doing your dream job what would it be?

I LOVE what I do right now. I want to do more it, with more responsibility but we shall see.

Then there is part of me that wants to own a store full of beautiful things, but without the responsibility of being a small business owner. :)

How did your husband propose to you?

We had a perfect weekend visiting my grandparents and hanging out with my nephew. We had so much fun. On the way home, Ty set up the perfect conversation--talking about our kids' names. What girl wouldn't love that conversation?!

He let me pick where we ate dinner--Chili's. (Which happens to be one of my fave restaurants and the choices were limited in our college town. They have the best chips and salsa!)

I lived in the sorority house at the time and we stopped by there before heading out to the next part of our evening. Ty wanted to take a walk around campus. I wanted to watch Desperate Housewives in the tv lounge. If I had only known...

He is too good to me and sat with a bunch of girls while we watched the show. Then we headed out to take our walk. This was in January, but it was a really warm day for Jan. He proposed at Theta Pond. I have no idea what he said. I was just so excited!! I kept saying, "shut up." I didn't believe it. We got married 16 months later on campus overlooking Theta Pond. It was perfect!

The Suite Life

I am a very blessed girl! My company sponsored a suite at the football game this weekend. We invited undergraduate students to attend. This was our 3rd year to do it and it was a blast!

I couldn't resist this picture opportunity! haha!

The best part about the suites is all the free food. Here was our menu for Saturday:

Ty is a great recruiter. I love taking him to events with me.

The suite areas are tastefully decorated in a rustic, cowboy motif. This is usually not my style, but they did a good job with it and it is not overkill. The wall paper in our suite is leather. You can see it in the pic above of me and Ty.

The women's bathrooms are everything you would expect them to be for people that are shelling out the big bucks. I had to take a pic of the leather wallpaper for all of you.

It was a great weekend!

Q&A

A few random bullets:

• I Fall-ified my house last night. All my pumpkins have been scattered about. The reds, oranges, and browns of my fall decor just warm my house up.
• Ty and I watched Modern Family tonight online at abc.com and we loved it. So funny!
• My leopard coasters that were in a few of the pictures from my last post are from a seller on etsy. I couldn't find the seller on there anymore, but there are several different people that sell similar ones.

Since work is busy right now and all I have been doing is working or travelling for work I am going to do a Q&A on my blog. I have several new followers and commenters and I think this would be a good way for you all to get to know me!

oil and balsamic vinegar dip

This is the perfect side to all of my meals.

There is nothing better than warm, crusty french bread with dinner.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
2/3 cup aged balsamic vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:
In a bottle with a lid, mix the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, basil, oregano, thyme, kosher salt, and pepper.

Seal bottle, and refrigerate mixture 8 hours, or overnight.

Shake well before serving. Store in the refrigerator.

{I stored mine in a plastic bowl and it worked fine. I just had to shake it up before I used it.}

{Also when you store it in the refrigerator for several days, the ingredients might separate and look gross, but just microwave it for a little bit and then shake it.} {with the lid on. :)}

Work is super busy right now and it sounds like it is that way for a lot of other bloggers. I'm too tired/stressed to think of a title right now!

You know you are married to a medical student when you catch him "scrubbing in" for dinner.
I swear he washed half way up his arms! By the time I saw it and ran into the living room for my phone he was done.

But I did capture him drying his hands. Completely blog worthy, no?

I couldn't tell that story without any pictures!

Oh and when Ty was on nights I put aluminum foil on our bedroom windows to help him sleep better during the day. I never want to take it down. It may look white trash, but
It. Is. Amazing! Too bad one of our bedroom windows is on the front of the house. Maybe just a few more days...

Anytime I work out at home Nuts will lay down and watch me. It is so weird!


Apparently, I am entertaining and no doubt amusing.

Ty was watching tv in the living room, so I popped the 30 Day Shred into my computer and propped it up on Nuts' old dog cage. {I just bought him one of the fold down metal crates, which is why this one is just sitting out and why there is a box in front of the fireplace.}

And yes I am doing girl style push-ups.

weekend recap

Friday I got home from my work trip and headed to dinner with Ty and Chesley. We went to Casa Bonita. My mom and aunt used to take all of us kids to eat there. I remember it being this HUGE restaurant with flags on every table that you raised when you wanted the waiter to stop by. I also remember a big game room. The restaurant burned down years ago and someone finally renovated it.

It was exactly like I remember, except the food was awful. I'm pretty sure it all came out of a can. We had a good time anyways. Chesley and I felt like the parents of a little boy. I gave Ty $1 to go play games while Ches and I talked. haha!

Saturday Ty and I travelled to a neighboring city for his Grandma's birthday celebration. It was so nice to see everyone and meet some family members I had never met before. After the party we drove to Ty's sister's house to hang out for a couple of hours. We always have so much fun over there.

Sunday It has been rainy and dreary here for what seems like forever. The sun made an appearance on Saturday and stuck around for Sunday. I think the rain is supposed to be back soon though. We went to a park on Sunday to enjoy the sunshine.

I was at a great TJ Maxx today and ran across this china:

It is the Vera Wang Love Knots collection. The store had 4 dinner plates and 4 dessert plates. I actually put them all in my cart, but don't worry Ty I put them back! I really don't need anymore plates right now and if I'm going to buy china I need more than 4 pieces. This is me, trying to convince myself that I don't need them. Although, if I happen to stop by tomorrow and they still have them I might call it fate! I did buy a compote that was in a taped box within another box. I didn't open it until later and it has a crack in it, so I do have to go back tomorrow....

I have been wanting to try dry shampoo for a long time. I used to have oily hair that I had to wash daily, but in the last 6 months my hair has changed and I can go 2 days without washing. I love the mornings when I don't have to wake up earlier and wash my hair, then blow dry, straighten, etc. I want to make my hair last one more day. This is where the dry shampoo comes in. I wasn't sure what brand I wanted to try, so I kept putting off buying some. Then someone {sorry, I can't remember who--if it was you let me know, so I can give you credit!} blogged about batiste dry shampoo.

It is sold at Sally's and is around $7.

It. is. amazing.

It gives me more volume and takes away that gross feeling of unwashed hair.

game day dress

Thank you all for your sweet comments on my dress. Several of you wanted to know how I did it. You all know I'm not very good at tutorials. I even took a couple of pictures thinking I would show you all how I did it, but then the dress wasn't turning out quite how I thought, so I stopped snapping pics. I did find a couple of sites that will make them for you. I will list several sites at the bottom of this post.

Here's what I did:

I bought a small and medium t-shirt (the same shirt). I cut the top off the small and pinned the dress together where I had cut the top and sleeves off.

I recommend using elastic thread to sew the top and right under the bust. Here are a couple of links where I learned about sewing with elastic thread, here and here.
Although you might want to use regular elastic for the top. I ended up sewing mine tight enough to where I didn't really even need elastic at the top.

Then I cut the bottom of the medium shirt and attached it to the bottom of the small top. I would recommend just buying two shirts of the same size. I had to resize the med. bottom to fit the small top. Make sense?

Mine did NOT turn out perfect by any means. I honestly had no idea what I was doing and used my seam ripper more than I care to rememer.

Visit the Polka Dot Alley if you want to have one custom made for you. They are constantly adding new pictures of the custom dresses that they have made. They also sell a ton of other cute gift items including a great customizable melamine tray that I really want!

You can also visit Ketch the Spirit. This company was started by a girl that graduated from my alma mater. She only makes dresses for a few university. Check her out to see if she makes one for your school of choice.

Weekend Recap

Friday I went to lunch with a coworker and these two. We miss Whitney at work! It was good to see her and Levi!

You can't really tell, but he had on the cutest polo onesie. It had embroidered whales all over it, very preppy and very cute.

Saturday My sorority held an alumni tailgate, so Ty and I drove back for it. Poor guy had worked nights all week for his OB/GYN rotation. He only got a couple of hours of sleep before we had to leave our house to drive back to our alma mater. He is such a good sport! He also "caught" his first baby in the wee hours of Saturday morning. I think that is such an amazing thing!

I made the dress above. It took me several tries to get it the way I wanted, but I eventually decided it was presentable enough. I spent a lot of nights last week with the seam ripper!

We wanted a picture in front of the sign. Please ignore the food table. It was the end of the tailgate and well, tailgates are never pretty once a 100+ girls have gone through the food line. :)

This is the current president. She was just a little freshman when I was president. Gosh, I'm old!

The rain held off until the 3rd quarter. Chesley's poncho wouldn't stay on her head. Luckily, she was able to use my umbrella w/o blocking anyone's view.

After the game, Ty's parents took us to dinner at the Rancher's Club. OSU has a great hotel and restaurant administration program. They run a campus hotel and restaurant. It is all 5 star and has excellent service. The dinner was delish!!

I had so much fun at my college town, even though we lost the game. I love that place. It was a long day and I had to make the long drive home. Poor Ty was about to fall over from a lack of sleep. He took a REALLY long nap on Sunday.

Sunday I am teaching the 2&3 year olds on Sunday morning. They are such cuties. We learned about David and Goliath. It was so cute to hear them say Goliath in their sweet, little voices. Sunday night our class {our regular, grown-up class, not the kiddo class} had a game night. I love game nights! They are always so much fun!

spice things up

I have a pretty plain work wardrobe. I like simple, classic clothes. I end up wearing a lot of cardigans to work. That can get pretty boring, even though I love my cardis.

This is my new way to spice up my library lady wardrobe.

A skinny belt and a clip-on flower

I wonder if I can get away with wearing this with all of my clothes. Then people would refer to me as the girl that wears a flower right under her breast. lovely.
